| Welcome to our website. It is our hope that we can provide you with current updated fishing reports in our local region including Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and British Columbia. We offer guided fly fishing outings here in Washington along with many classes in fly casting, both for single and two handed rods, fly tying, entomology and how to read the water. We are a Sage, Loomis and Orvis dealer along with many other popular brands of fly fishing paraphernalia to include the best selection of fly tying materials in the region. We are dedicated to your enjoyment and success in fly fishing be it trout, steelhead, salmon or spiny ray. Stop by and see us over a cup of coffee. |
The rivers are begining to show signs of good water volumes as the summer months are finally starting to take effect of our flows. Green Drakes, PMD's, some small Caddis, Stimulators and even Humpys are all fishing well. Have a few adventureous friends who are even fishing Hoppers and Ants now with surprising results. Some of our local lakes are starting to warm up, and the shallow lakes are begining to roll over and put excessive turbidity in the water making it difficult to keep the fly clean and for fish to feed. Keep your eye on the moon cycles, as they will feed all night long at a full moon. Low pressure systems will also have an effect.
For information on some of these lakes and rivers please see our fishing reports. As the water and air temperatures begin to warm up the fly fishing will change daily as the days get longer.
New in the shop is our fly fishing information board that is updated on a daily basis with current fishing information, hot spots, necessary gear, where and how to fish your favorite patterns, techniques and hot fly patterns. Stop by and have a chat with the ol Swede to get further information on your favorite stream or lake.
There are more fishing reports in our newsletter which is sent out email once a month.
This is also the time to think about taking either a single hand or two handed fly casting class to possibly brush up those rusty casting loops or learning a new way of fly fishing with a two handed fly rod. Our casting classes are very busy but we are available by appointment. Fly tying, reading the water and entomology classes are available also. Check the on line schedules.
We are open M-F 9 to 6 and Sat 10 to 4.
Our lessons are available at your convenience. Call 509 323 0500 for an appointment.

It has been requested that Swede’s Fly Shop open their doors once a month to fly fishers who want to have a round table and do what comes natural, that is, sit around tie flies or just talk about fly fishing in general over a cup of coffee and cookies. June 5th, we will have our doors open at 10:00am for those who want to meet and just talk fishing, tying, catching, products, styles, politics, or whatever. We’ll try and meet on the second Saturday of each month and the coffee will be ready along with whatnots. A whatnot is something edible that goes with the whatever.
So if this sounds like something you might be interested in, please find time to join us and stop by. There’ll be fishing reports, flies to discuss, styles to compare with and tape measure calibrations. Judging from the fishing reports it seems appropriate. Sound like fun? Ya sur ya’betcha!
